The Directors’ Conference of the State Media Authorities (DLM) is composed of legal representatives (Directors, Presidents) of the 14 State Media Authorities.
The Director of the managing authority takes over the Chair of the Directors’ Conference.
Since 1st January , 2008, Thomas Langheinrich – President of the State Media Authority of Baden-Wurttemberg (LFK) – has been the Chair of the Directors’ Conference of the State Media Authorities. Vice-Chairs are Manfred Helmes – State Media Authority of Rhineland-Palatinate (LMK) and Jochen Fasco – State Media Autority of Thuringia (TLM).
The Directors’ Conference of the State Media Authorities (DLM) is responsible for protecting the interests of the member authorities in the area of broadcasting at the national and the international level. It maintains the exchange of information and opinions with broadcasters, deals with common matters outside of licensing and supervisory tasks in the area of audiovisual media, solicits experts’ opinions on questions of fundamental importance to the tasks of the member authorities and monitors and analyzes channel development.
In addition to this the State Media Authorities deliberate on planning and technical matters in the Technical Commission (TKLM). In order to monitor developments in media policy within the EU the DLM names, from the pool of directors, the European Affairs Commissioner, furthermore a commissioner for citizens’ media, a commissioner for administration as well as a commissioner for legal affairs and a coordinator for radio.
